Elyse Ridling, Year 13, Leader of Faith Cafe
Faith Cafe is a student run initiative that highlights justice for all through giving their profits to charitable causes. They also highlight ethical practice through their use of fair trade ingredients and eco friendly packaging. They also create a great sense of community and hospitality for all students who are welcomed to the cafe.
Janine Ramos, Year 13, Leader of Young Vinnies
As a leader of the Young Vinnies group, Janine attends all the Regional meetings and Masses. She ensures that a programme is organised for the Young Vinnies meetings at Carmel along with the other leaders. Janine helps to provide music for the Thursday Masses at Carmel and has helped to encourage younger musicians to get involved in liturgical music.
Heather Lock, Year 13, Student Sports Coaching
Heather has been coaching for Carmel for the past 3 years for two different sports each year. In 2017 she coached both Y7/1 Netball and our Y7/8 Touch team, 2018 she coached our Y7/8 Waterpolo team and Y7/8 Touch team and in 2019 she is the assistant coach of our Junior A Waterpolo team and will again be coaching our Y7/8 Touch team in Term 4. With these teams she attends and runs multiple trainings and games a week and goes to all their tournaments and zones throughout the year. Her passion for seeing these girls develop and improve is very strong and she has since started to coach at a representative level for North Harbour Touch after her experiences at Carmel. She also plays age group level Waterpolo and Touch for New Zealand and fits in all her own trainings and games around her coaching commitments.
