Last week was Culture Week at Carmel. We had an awesome, fun filled week all about celebrating the different cultures within our school. It was amazing to see how many got involved in our activities and wanted to celebrate our cultural diversity. On Monday we had some fun weaving and doing origami as well as learning greetings from different countries during Atawhai time. On Tuesday we all competed in the Atawhai Flags of the World competition and at lunch decorated our cultural identity hand prints. On Wednesday we watched some very beautiful and diverse cultural performances from our very own Carmel students at both our Assembly and Culture Concert. On Thursday we had some fun playing our cultural kahoot and also had some cultural hymns and prayers. To finish off the week, on Friday we had our annual Cultural Day Stalls as well as cultural mufti for all of the staff and students. This year we had a great variety of cultures represented through games, art and cuisine at our ‘Carmel Culture Fest’. This included a Pasifika pineapple ice cream, Indian mango lassi and poppadoms, Chinese homemade dumplings, Korean street food and so much more! A big thanks to all the staff and students involved, you all did amazing and made our ‘Carmel Culture Fest’ and our 2019 Culture Week definitely one to remember.
