What service looks like in Term 2

Volunteers are not paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.

There may not be the same opportunities for volunteers at the moment with events being cancelled and social distancing in place, but there are many other ways you can show care in your community.

We will not be reducing the hours required for service awards, however, we are extending the time frame to allow you to complete your hours over the term 3 holidays since you lost the term 1 holidays. Requirements are still: Yr 7-8 10 hours, Yr 9-10  15 hours, Yr 11-13 20 hours.  New completion dates for service TBC.

Below are some examples of ways you can help out:

• Offering your time and help to your extended family, e.g. grandparents.  For example cleaning windows, sweeping, gardening. (This does not include chores at home).
• Gardening for your community.
• Walking the dog for neighbours who have gone back to work.
• Childcare for your community or your extended family, (for example aunties and uncles).
• Tutoring – either at school or if you know someone in your community who needs extra help (not just brothers and sisters).
• Helping your teachers at school with any tasks they may need done (before school, lunchtime, after school).
• As community organisations get back to normal there is often preparation involved eg cleaning, windows, sweeping up leaves, gardening. Your family might have connections to these types of organisations such as Churches, sports clubs, play centres.
