Year 13 Biology students spent the previous lockdown working on an internal assessment called ” Integrate biological knowledge to develop an informed response to a socio-scientific issue. ”
The students research and write a report looking at the various implications and ethics around a socio-scientific issue in our society and of course examine the biology underpinning the issue.
Next year many NZ Biology teachers are considering suggesting to students the topic of whether masks should be worn as part of our response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
For those of you interested, HERE is the background reading I will be suggesting as part of their research. It looks at the ethics of mask-wearing. Additionally, the students would need to research the biology around wearing a mask.
