On Friday, 18 June St Aidan’s Presbyterian Church, with the help of Takapuna and St Luke’s Methodist Churches, held a free craft afternoon in Northcote for primary school aged children to celebrate Matariki.
This service opportunity gave us time to spend teaching young children how to make things to celebrate Matariki and to learn about Maori culture. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience as I was able to help children make crafts (and also make some myself), meet new people and help with the tidy up when the craft afternoon finished. At the end, a delicious afternoon tea was served for everyone.
