Carmel College fielded teams in the NZFC Chess competition which was recently held in Carmel College. Three teams of Year 7-11 students took part in the competition. Members in Carmel A were Nadia Braganza, Kriya D’Sa, Salina Xiao and Sarah Sun. Carmel A placed in the top 10 of the competition which was a good achievement. Teams B and C placed 15th and 16th. The girls had tough competition but represented Carmel well, demonstrating good sportsmanship, teamwork, determination and strength of character. This is the first year Carmel has hosted the competition. A special congratulations goes to Nadia Braganza who won five out of six games and Sarah Sun who earned a medal for winning six out of six games.
