On Wednesday, 15 June it was World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. To bring attention to this and show our support and appreciation for the elderly in our community, we held a card making activity in the library. These were filled with positive messages to brighten up the day of the receiver.
In addition to this, we had a baking session in the afternoon where we made and packaged brownies and shortbread.
Both the cards and the sweet treats were delivered to Age Concern North Shore in Shakespeare Rd.
It was a fun and eye-opening day where we learned the challenges that many of the elderly face on a daily basis. It was very satisfying to demonstrate our support.
