Sylvan Park on the shore of Lake Pupuke has recently benefited from the care of Carmel girls. The students from the Kaitiaki o te Roto group took part in a recent Adopt a Park activity where 150 native grasses were planted. After learning about the benefits of riparian planting from Ranger Anna, such as preventing erosion, the girls got to with spades and gloves. The girls were able to earn service hours for the activity and the surroundings of Lake Pupuke have been beautified.
