From The Principal

Last week my message to our students was to be involved. I will continue to encourage our young women to make the most of the opportunities available to them at school, to join a team and to go out and try something new. It is in taking part and being involved that they find ways to connect to the College community, to develop friendships and an appreciation and understanding for others. Through the interactions facilitated by participation, our young women are able to develop and demonstrate our values of being compassionate and respectful, whilst developing courage to pursue something new, potentially outside of their comfort zone.

Being physically connected to the school has been difficult recently due to restrictions. Although these have eased and we have students engaging in education outside the classroom and events that will welcome the wider community back to the school’s physical site, ways of connecting digitally with our community are continuing to be developed.

The Carmel College social media platforms create further opportunities to develop a connection with our community. While these are important tools to communicate upcoming events and celebrate the successes of both our current and past students, we also want our young women to be able to connect with our school vision and values, to see on social media what it means and looks like to live by our Mercy values.

Therefore, I encourage you to ‘like’ the Carmel College Facebook and Instagram pages. Join with us to celebrate our young women’s successes, to come along and support our students at various events. It is through being there, by being involved and active in our community that we develop our connections to one another, and as a community we are able to collectively support our students to develop into young women who will be prepared to challenge and shape the future, whilst being young women of Mercy who act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with their God.
