Earlier this term, Abby O’Donoghue (Year 9) joined a group of musical theatre students chosen from around the country to participate in the Junior Theatre Festival NZ Pilot Programme. This is a fast paced and challenging experience where students audition, workshop, rehearse and perform a yet to be released Broadway Jr. musical. Working under international professionals from NYC, Sydney and London they learn the entire show in just a few days.
Being selected for this programme was a huge opportunity for Abby to grow her skills as a performer as well as make new friends who share her passion for performing arts. Abby is a Trinity of London musical theatre student and trains in dance, singing and acting at the Northern School of Performing Arts. She is also a member of the Centrestage Youth Theatre Company where she recently performed in the lead role of Gloria, the hippo in their sell-out season of Madagascar the Musical.
