At Carmel College this week, we warmly welcomed new ākonga (students), whānau (families), and kaimahi (staff) in a mihi whakatāu. Members of the Kapa Haka group called the group with a haka pōhiri.
Representing the haukāinga (hosts), our Tū Wāhine, Ella Paku and Simonne Lawson, along with our Head Girls, addressed the group. Lily Dwyer and Riley Redfern-Hardisty, Te Reo Māori students, responded on behalf of the manuhiri (visitors).
After the formalities, we enjoyed the chance to mingle and share some kai. Thank you to the parents and families who joined us and all who participated in this special event.
