Last Friday, 15 March, we held our annual Coin Trail fundraiser for Caritas New Zealand. Our focus this year is on women’s educational opportunities in Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea. It was great to see the enthusiasm expressed through each Atawhai contributing toward their money totals. The day also coincided with St Patrick’s Day, so all students were dressed up in a sea of green!
Each Atawhai group had to participate in competitions of creating a chalk design, plus a poem, that connected to the 2024 Carmel Mercy value of Service (āwhinatanga). The ideas presented were amazing and we cannot wait to announce the final money totals and competition winners next week. The results will be announced on a video which students can access on House google classrooms.
The lunchtime stalls were also buzzing with joy as we collected even more donations toward Caritas while having a blast buying food and playing games. It was a fun day had by all!
