On 17 September, four Year 9s, Josephine Deady, Xin Ang Lau, Maia O’ Callaghan and Syntyche Khoo (Adrianna Beck absent) competed as a team in the North Shore Readers’ Cup sponsored by Paper Plus Glenfield. The team had to read six books, and answer six questions about each book, with a total of 36 questions. Competing against 5 other schools including Rangitoto College, Pinehurst and Takapuna Grammar, the team slowly inched up to the top of the scoreboard. Attempting the last few questions, the team was really excited for the final results. In the end the Carmel College team won, scraping in by half a point. The Carmel College team will be attending Nationals in Term 4, which we look forward to.
