On Tuesday this week, 30 Year 8 students were selected to attend the Auckland Writers Festival. It consisted of speeches from writers and illustrators all over the world. They talked about their experiences of publishing and what gave them the inspiration to do it. There were four speakers in total – Jason Reynolds, Johanna Emeney and Sarah Laing, Mary-Anne Scott and Dahlia & Mani Malaeulu. They all had captivating speeches that explained the process of how their ideas turned into a book. Each speaker gave us time at the end to ask questions and left us with advice and encouragement. Some of us were even lucky enough to get our books signed by the authors!
We had such a great time and loved the experience of meeting the authors face to face and hearing their stories.
