On 26 July students had the opportunity to meet and hear Carmel old girl, Te Mihinga Brock, talk about her training, journey and the passion she has, being part of the Army Reserve Force.
She shared with students how during her training her Te Reo Māori language was developed, along with her cultural identity as she was challenged and given the opportunity to embrace and celebrate being Māori. Te Mihinga offered an insight into a pathway from secondary school into the Defence force where opportunities to study, travel and develop as a young women is embraced and supported.
We loved having Te Mihinga back at the college to share her experiences and look forward to seeing and hearing more from her in the future.
