The Carmel College Orchestra proudly participated in the annual KBB Music Festival held at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell. This year, we entered as a competitive group, reflecting the significant improvements we have made, both as individual musicians and as an ensemble.
Our performance featured a range of captivating pieces, including “Warrior Legacy” by Soon Hee Newbold, “Themes from Scheherazade” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (arranged by Richard Meyer), “Havana” (arranged by Victor López), and “Finale from Symphony No. 2” by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (arranged by Sandra Dackow).
In addition to our performance, our orchestra had the incredible opportunity to participate in the play-in, where we joined with multiple orchestras to create a combined ensemble. This allowed us to immerse ourselves in orchestral music on a grand scale, making it a wonderful experience.
Performing in the Holy Trinity Cathedral was an unforgettable experience, and we felt great pride in presenting our musical progress and the finished product to an appreciative audience. We extend our thanks to Mr Child and Mrs Brockelbank for their dedication and guidance, as well as to the APO mentors that helped us master these complex pieces.
