From the Service Programme – Senior students assignments were due this week

In fact, almost half of the Year 11-13 students had already handed in their service journals EARLY.   Students have been putting their energy into fundraising, environmental projects, coaching and a vast range of actions to support individuals and groups.   Their efforts make a real difference AND develop their own skills and character.

Pictured above is Lily (Year 12) who wrote “…Our work at the Vinnies op shop allowed us to directly support a charity that helps people who are struggling and facing economic hardships.  Pricing items, organising clothing and maintaining the shop’s cleanliness ensured that people from disadvantaged backgrounds could access the necessities with dignity.”

Thanks to the parents, teachers and other community members who support our students in their service experience.  If you have a community project or cause that would benefit from some student energy, please contact the programme (service@carmel.school.nz).
