This week is Mental Health Awareness week. The 2024 theme is – ‘Community is what we create together’. Positive wellbeing does not happen by accident – it needs nurturing and protecting. Strong social connections are essential for our life satisfaction and overall health, which is why being part of a community can provide us with a sense of belonging, purpose and connectedness. This Mental Health Awareness Week we have been focusing on the power of community.
Heads of Council, Savannah Castles and Daragh Bonnici, have helped to lead Year 12 Health students, Izzy Esnouf, Tanna Van Rensburg, Agatha Godinet, Riley Redfern-Hardisty and Peta Ng Lam, in organising a fun filled week. The week’s activities have included a photo competition, a lunchtime movie session, Atawhai shared morning tea and a panel discussion hosted by clinical psychologists and mental health advocates.
The end of the week will conclude with our Annual Pink Day celebrations, where we will come together as a community to raise awareness and raise money for breast cancer. Pink Ribbons have been on sale all week for a gold coin donation and Pink Mufti, lunchtime stalls and the baking competition will take place on Friday.
