Members of Carmel College’s Chess Club took part in two competitions recently.

The Year 7&8 team played in the North Shore Intermediate Qualifier at Wairau Intermediate.  Sarah Sun, Captain of the team won five out of six of her games against some stiff competition.

Carmel College hosted the North Shore Secondary Qualifier in the hall, fielding two teams captained by Nadia Braganza, our own WCM (Woman Candidate Master). It was a challenging competition but both teams equipped themselves well, playing with good spirit and sportsmanship.

Chess Club is held every Wednesday in Room 45.  Students can come to learn chess skills, play socially or participate in the Chess Ladder. Contact Mrs Katy Body kbody@carmel.school.nz for more information.
