Pink Shirt Day

Last week we celebrated Māia Week, which ended with Pink Shirt Day on Friday.

The focus of this week was to promote courage within our school community – particularly the courage to be an upstander rather than a bystander.  Throughout the week, activities were run during Atawhai to promote kindness and spread awareness of what bullying looks like and how we can stop it.  Pink Shirt Day finished this week off beautifully in the spirit of fostering a kinder school environment where everyone feels safe and valued.  Through our awesome stalls and mufti, Carmel raised $1500 to go towards the Mental Health Foundation who develop free resources and workshops that spread kindness and prevent bullying in Aotearoa.

We want to say a huge thank you to all our girls and members of our community who helped make this week such a big success!  We loved seeing you all in your gorgeous pink shirts!
