Our annual Social Justice Week was held last week by our Caritas Committee. Social Justice Week is a week-long event created by Caritas to encourage students within Aotearoa’s Catholic schools to reflect and understand a unique theme. This week followed the 2024 theme of “Choose Forgiveness, Know Peace” which is a continuation of the overall theme, “Imagine peace for all”. The week aimed to demonstrate these themes and show students that through forgiveness, we will know peace, as through true forgiveness we resolve conflict.
Our Social Justice Week contained a variety of engaging and enjoyable activities, such as a scavenger hunt, colouring in ethics leaves—which will be used to vibrantly decorate our RE block—a themed mass, and a praise party. Each of these activities was created to ensure that students were enthusiastic about participating, and allowed them to leave each one with a better understanding that when we Choose Forgiveness, we Know Peace.
The junior students’ art competition showcased talent and dedication. Congratulations to the winners, Ana Talilotu for physical artwork and Selafina Lemeki for digital artwork:
A massive thank you to everyone who helped ensure this week was filled with enthusiasm and participation. Thank you to all the students who spent their lunch times participating in each of our activities, and to all the students and teachers that helped make this week possible.
