Summer Tournament Week Wrap-up

Volleyball Nationals and Satellite Tournament

Congratulations to the senior Volleyball team.  After the week away in Palmerston North at the Secondary Schools Nationals, they won GOLD in the Division 2 final placing 17th overall in New Zealand.

A Year 10/11 development team had the opportunity to attend a North Island satellite tournament over 3 days, where they played against some strong senior teams.  The growth of these players was very strong and they ended up placing 9th overall, with 2 losses and 5 wins.

A big thank you must go to the management teams of Lani Rawle, Eva Mene-Tuimavave, Deanne Rawle, Junitta Moa, Annie Sadlier and Mark Lendrum for these tournaments and the season.  Plus all the fantastic family support the teams had over this time.

Basketball 3×3 Regional Tournament

The Imogen O’Rourke, Ella Drake, Leighton Esera and Lily Farman 3×3 basketball team had an impressive showing at the Northern Regional tournament held over three days at Bruce Pullman.  Facing a huge field of competitors, they had a 4th place finish, recording 9 wins and 4 losses.  Thank you to Ella who also went as the team referee and ended up officiating many strong boys’ games.

Senior Waterpolo North Islands Championships

Two big tournaments of waterpolo over the last week, with a team in both the Division 1 and Division 2 North Island Championships.

Lots of learning and development were had over these two events for the teams.  The Senior A played against the top teams in New Zealand, placing 8th overall with 4 losses and 3 draws.  The Senior B team, made up of Junior Year 9-11 players, was up against some strong top teams from the North Island and placed 16th overall.

Good luck to both these teams as they play their final game of the Auckland season this weekend and to Senior A team as they look ahead to nationals at Mount Maungani in 3 weeks’ time.  Thank you to Sarah Stewart and Dylan Smith for coaching these teams, and to Hannah Gerdin and Traci Mihaljevich for the management plus all the extra parent help and support the girls had over their tournaments.
