This week, our Year 10 students embarked on the Christian Churches trip. This unique experience provided the opportunity to be welcomed into three incredible places of worship to explore.
The day began at St George’s Takapuna, where Reverend Josh shared insightful stories about Presbyterian history. Rev Josh shared with us his experience of the ecumenism between the Christian churches in Takapuna.
Next, we visited Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell, where Mariana guided us through the soaring architecture and intricate stained glass artworks that filled the space. The students were particularly fascinated by the old gothic architecture of St Mary’s. Afterward, we enjoyed a well-deserved break with a picnic lunch in the picturesque Parnell Rose Garden. Surrounded by blooming roses and stunning views, it was the perfect picnic spot.
Our final stop was St Patrick’s Cathedral, where Fr Chris shared the deep history of this iconic building and explained the Catholic Church’s place in the Reformation. The students left with a sense of awe at the Cathedral’s grandeur.
We would like to extend our thanks to Rev Josh, Mariana and Fr Chris for their time, hospitality and inspiring insights. The trip was a wonderful opportunity for our students to deepen their understanding of our Reformation period, while fostering community spirit and reflection.
