Last week, Year 11 Drama concluded their performances of William Shakespeare’s, The Comedy of Errors, over four nights in the school theatre to an audience of friends, family, teachers and the wider community.
We’ve been working towards this performance since the beginning of Term 2 when we were casted in our roles. For weeks, we all lived, slept and breathed drama; running lines with friends, family, and making jokes that only our class would understand. Learning Shakespeare is not an easy task so we all had to find ways to make the lines work for us. The initial stages of rehearsals saw a lot of funny faults, some that paved the way for our more humorous moments or the show.
A massive thank you to Mr Middleton and Ms van Geffen, our Directors. Working with both of these teachers drastically improved our performance and gave us the confidence that we would really be able to perform well. Thanks also to the Year 12 students who filled out the minor roles; the drama students who helped with lights and sound; and most importantly to everyone who came to watch us.
