The Year 13 Drama Production of Girls of the Garden Club, by John Patrick, will be performed in Week 2 of Term 2
For Rhoda Greenleaf, gardening is her everything and the presidency of the local garden club her highest goal. But standing in her way is the incumbent, Lillybelle, who peppers her speech with French phrases and is a general pain in the neck. How to oust Lillybelle and install herself as president becomes Rhoda’s obsession, seeking the help of a rather dysfunctional group of Garden Club Girls: Dede – who talks to flowers; Dora – who repeats everything that Evie says; Clara – who corrects everyone’s grammar; and Birdie Smithers – who, well, just doesn’t want to be there.
