A group of Year 8 students were fortunate to visit the Auckland Writers Festival last week. It was a fun and educational trip to learn about the writing process and hear selected novelists discuss their books. Authors such as Kwame Alexander, Sonya Wilson, Graci Kim and Gareth Wards were all present and gave captivating speeches on their individual journeys from an idea to a published book. We were particularly inspired by Graci Kim and how she weaves Korean mythology into her novels. Some of us were also lucky enough to get our books signed by the authors!
