Youth Parliament

The Youth Parliament programme gives young people the opportunity to understand and be a part of the Parliamentary process and connect with their communities.  It will be a significant opportunity for up to 123 young New Zealanders to gather the views of their peers and bring young people’s voices to Parliament.

The next Youth Parliament will occur in 2025, with Youth MPs participating in a tenure programme from Monday 28 April to Friday 29 August including a two-day Youth Parliament event in Wellington on Tuesday 1 July and Wednesday 2 July.

Every Member of Parliament will select a Youth MP to represent their community.
Applicants should email a 90-second video on why they want to be a Youth MP and send this to northshore@parliament.govt.nz by Friday 28 February 2025.
For more information please go to www.youthparliament.govt.nz, and see attached two letters inviting students to apply from Hon Simon Watts HERE and Labour List MP, Shanan Halbert HERE.
